Lake Norman has hired its new wrestling coach, naming Morgan Fore the man to take over the position vacated by Tom Pavia.
Fore inherits a program Pavia turned around.
The Wildcats were 2-27 the year before Pavia arrived, but he guided them to 76 dual-team meet victories in three seasons.
Under the direction of Pavia, Lake Norman also won one North Piedmont Conference tournament championship and qualified for the state dual-team playoffs three times.
Fore is a graduate of Wilmington Hoggard High School (1998) and UNC-Wilmington (2005). He was a volunteer assistant coach at UNC-Greensboro last season. He was also an assistant to Pavia from 2006-08, and Fore is a Silver Certified Wrestling coach thru USA Wrestling.
“We feel we have added a quality coach to our staff, one that the parents and wrestling team members know and respect,” Lake Norman athletic director Steve Rankin said of Fore, who also coached wrestling at Brawley Middle School from 2006-08.
“We feel Morgan can continue the steady growth of achievements and maintain this high level of accomplishments that Coach Pavia has gotten us to.”
