Connellsvilles Gaffney heading to Edinboro

As a high school wrestler, Connellsville’s Nathan Gaffney has already accomplished the ultimate goal of winning a state championship. And prior to the start of the 2009-10 season, Gaffney, a senior, has achieved another goal.

Gaffney, 18, has received a partial scholarship to wrestle at Edinboro University.

“It’s a great accomplishment because it’s been a goal of mine to wrestle at a Division I school,” Gaffney said.

Edinboro has everything that Gaffney was looking for in a college.

“They are one of the best wrestling programs in the nation, and it’s close to home and it’s a small school,” Gaffney said, noting that he has not selected a major, but is leaning toward physical therapy or physical education.
