Roseburg looking to capture another state wrestling title

rhs-feather-300x128ROSEBURG, Ore. – The Roseburg High School wrestling team opened the season ranked as the number one team in the state, and they fully expect to be at the top when the season ends in February.

Coach Steve Lander’s team won the West Salem Invitational last week, and showing how deep they are, their second team was third in the nine-team tournament.

With several state placers plus 20 district placers back this year, they expect to be competing for their third state championship in four years at the end of the season.

Sam Mecham, who won his first state title last year, is looking for another one this year.
