NC State wrestling falls at Maryland

NCSU20220Logo1Maryland won seven bouts, including three by major decisions, one by pin and one by forfeit and handed NC State a 30-10 defeat in college wrestling at College Park, Md.

The seventh-ranked Terps improved to 2-0 in the ACC, while NC State fell to 1-1. Maryland is now 14-3 overall, while the Pack is 5-8. NC State will wrestle again this evening at Navy. That match will begin at 7 p.m.

NC State got victories from sophomore 149-pounder Bobby Ward, who improved to 21-6 wth an 8-2 decision over Dex Lederer. Freshman 141-pounder Dale Shull improved to 14-9 with a 12-9 decision over Matt Bogusz. The Wolfpack’s other victory came when sophomore 174-pounder Quinton Godley took an 11-2 major decision over Owen Smith. Godley lifted his record for the season to 10-13 with the victory.
