After a year of wrestling in South Jersey, and starting his sophomore year at St. Marks, Sean Boylan knows what it takes to win his 3rd Independent Conference title by pinning Nick Gatinella of Caravel Academy. “I had fun going into the Independent Conference Tournament but my real goal is to win my third state title I placed 4th in the Beast of the East Tournament last year and it helps me to stay focused on this season.”
After an outstanding performance at the Beast in 2009 with a title, Nick Schenk is moving ahead of his goals, after a 14-3 win over Chris Donaldson of Salesianum for the 2010 Independent Conference Wrestling title last week and will look forward to the States at Sussex Central. ” I have to stay focused no matter what the crowd does I always have to ignore them.” Chris Donaldson of Salesianum my opponent was a 112 pound state runnerup has backed away so many time so I decided to put the pressure on to stay on him and to work on my moves.” “At the Beast last year, my main goal had peaked at the right time, after Sherlock defeated me in 2008 and I defeated him at the right time, God helped me throughout the day.” “Jason Bastianelli is an outstanding coach and really helps you with technic along with keeping on track of me and my grades.” “After I graduate from St. Marks, I might take a year off and go to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado to train myself hard and to focus on my wrestling technique first then probably go to a Community College for a year along with training for Flo Nationals and maybe compete in vegas while training through the summer.”
St. Marks Head Wrestling Coach Jason Bastianelli on his teams performance at the Independent Tournament: It felt better for our going 13 out of 14 in the in the medal rounds and right now our team is focusing on Tuesday.” “It about us not any other opponent Michael Mauk at 189 stayed on the attack and had trouble with the holds and wanted to finish the match strong.” ” BobbyTelford is amazing here at the tournament he was 5th in the conference in his second year and is a heavyweight who has really done well.”
Iowa Bound Bobby Telford after a 5th place finish in his sophomore year won his 2nd Independent Conference title after pinning Archmere’s Tyler Foresta: “These past few weeks we worked hard in practice trying to fine tune our skills going in the state finals. Wrestling at Sussex Central High School has a huge gymnasium and is a big distraction.” “For our squad we’re going to wrestle hard along with scoring takedowns and to win matches. In my Beast final there were some hard things that I went through but had to leave it in the refs hands as I should have taken care of business the next time I see my opponent again.” II was working on my homework upstairs in my room and I received a call from one of the committee members of the Dapper Dan Classic and offered my a chance to represent Delaware in this fine classic.”
