California is definitely among the toughest state tournaments. I wrestled in Oklahoma and placed 3 in state as a junior (class 5a), and then moved to California and didn't even place my senior year. If I had stayed in Oklahoma, I might have won the state title and then I would have been able to wrestle in college. California ruined that dream because the state is so massive. To get to state in Cali, you have to first place in the league. Then you go to CIF sectionals. If you place there, you go to CIF masters. If you manage to get through all that, you go to state. It's wicked. That's way people like Derek Moore often get overlooked. Derek placed 5th in California state tournament as a senior, and then went on to be a NCAA division I champ.

At 215 Harrison Honeycutt (Lake Norman, NC) won his second title by going 50-0, last year he was 53-0 and has a 104 match win streak. He has not given up a take down during this period.

Dolan at 119 is a 4x State Champ, not a 3x, and he beat Arty Walsh this year at the Columbus Duals.

Zach Zimmer at 119 did not win every tourney prior to state. He lost in the finals at 5 Counties in January. And why is Bryan Grubbs, who beat him last weekend, ranked lower?

Leaving out Chris Martinez at 125 is an oversight. He beat Vince Rodriguez (#20) in the California state finals, you are "watching" the guys who placed 3, 4 and 5 in California, but the champ is nowhere to be found. What's a kid gotta do?

I sent you an e-mail as well.

1. We have 3 teams in our top 20, is that biased?
2. Have you sent any bios to us of kids we are missing so we can consider them?
3. Which kids in our rankings do you think should not be on there?

We appreciate the feedback and debate, please send us info.

just like always cali gets no love, only one state champ for every wieght and yet many champs cant even break into the HM. But if your for the east coast/ PA, NJ, you dont you can be one of 4 state champs, never wrestle in more than one 32man qualifying tournament and your name is garenteed top on the top of the list. its ok though, thet'll enjoy being on top while i enjoy my sunny 70* wheather on the daily.
