As a high school wrestler, you follow the college results almost as much as your local or national competition. You follow the college wrestlers because you see where they are and you know that you want to be right where they are.
These are the guys that put in the hard work and did everything they needed to do to get there. The satisfaction on their face after they win a national championship is incredibly inspiring.
In 2005 and 2006 when Johny Hendricks won his two championships for Oklahoma State, I wrestled in New Jersey and when the national championships came on, I was glued to the screen. I watched and saw how much achieving his goals truly meant to Hendricks and the rest of the champions.
