We are asking this because we are curious. There are numerous questions we like to hear some answers to around the country. Do not take this the wrong way; this article is not about competing organizations or a platform for soap boxes. We are looking at what is working, what is not, what interest’s levels are and how states are structured.
Structure
How is your state set up from an organizational perspective? Examples would be things like regions, board of directors, team selection process, coaching selection process, how many weekly tournaments (statewide), when is your state tournaments, are there separate qualifying tournaments, do you have a Nationals training camp and anything else you can think of. If your state does not do some of this, could you provide us with reasons why? Also, as a side note, please be civil.
Training
How is training handled? Does each city or area have a club? Are there regional weekly training sites throughout your state? What if anything is done for the coaches so there is some kind of shared approach to athletes whom may compete on national teams? Does your website post training tips or resources for athletes?
Participation
Do you know how many athletes are participating in your Freestyle and Greco events? How large are your weekly tournaments? How many are there each weekend? Are all of the events promoted on your state website? How many HS kids attend Cadet and Junior State tournaments? Give us a picture of your states participation levels.
