LEBANON, Tenn. – Junior Tyler Smith recorded a victory by Fall and Jake Williams added a Major Decision, but a pair of pins by No. 5 Campbellsville lifted the Tigers to a 26-19 victory over the No. 8-ranked Cumberland wrestling squad Friday night at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.

The match opened at 197 as Cumberland senior and No. 12 ranked Scott Stewart gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 advantage via an 11-5 Decision over No. 9 Nate Knauf. Stewart used a takedown and an escape in the second period to turn a 4-2 lead into a 7-3 score headed to the third.

Smith extended the lead at 285 with a victory by Fall at the 4:47 mark. After nearly pinning his opponent, Justin McDaniel, in the first period, the junior completed the win with just 13 seconds remaining in the second to give the Bulldogs an important 9-0 lead.

Campbellsville closed the gap at 125 as No. 4-ranked Cody Steiner dominated the contest. After taking a 10-1 advantage into the third period, Steiner pinned Nick Paden at 5:59 to put six points on the board for the Tigers.

At 133, Campbellsville continued to control the lighter weight classes with a 5-0 Decision from Drew Ferguson. The Tigers’ Colby Rinehart added six more points at 15-9 after a medical forfeit sidelined Nate Croley.

After an extended break because of an injury to Croley, junior and No. 4 ranked Jake Williams breathed some life back into the crowd with an 8-0 Major Decision over Brandon Westerman to cut the deficit to two at 15-13.
