Amateur Wrestling has suffered from a lack of exposure in the main stream media. Much of this is due to poor marketing of the sport and a lack of high quality resources. The success of former wrestlers in MMA and the rapid popularity growth of MMA presents the perfect opportunity for amateur wrestling to expand its current market reach.

How will the Open Mat address this?

So how does it work?

Well you can just hangout and be a non-active citizen and read all the wonderful news. You can also create an account and contribute news on your favorite teams of all levels. You can write your own or you can cut and paste articles from you local media outlets (Make sure you source all news related items). You can join a discussion in our forums or even contact us about topics you would like to know more about and our crack writing staff will see what the can put together for you.

The idea is simple, if you want more content on your teams or area then help out and contribute information. We are pretty good at what we do but only have so much time in a day, and there are a lot of things to be covered. If you are a freelance writer and would just like a place to post your great work, then do it, we can help any way that we can.

College Coaches

What does this mean to me as a College Coach?

We are asking those coaches who are interested to provide us with some weekly or monthly updates in their own words, similar to a blog. Coaches can sign in themselves and post their information anytime they would like. We understand that Head Coaches are very busy during the season and a school could assign any coach on staff to post information, summaries or news.

Also, we would like to hear from some of your athletes. They can create an account and post a blog. This allows fans to follow them during the season and get a unique perspective from the wrestler’s point of view. We believe this will help grow the overall fan base for wrestling. Again these services are free to you and all of our users. Our number one goal is to expand the reach of our sport and bring wrestling back to the front page.

Clubs

What does this mean to my team or club?

The Open Mat will provide your team or club with a free easy to use website. We will educate you on how to update it yourself and provide you with basic support. This is a great way for you to keep your fans, supporters and parents up to speed. Best of all did we mention this is a free service?
