The top four wrestlers at each weight class â€“ there will be seven total â€“ were seeded No. 1-4. Of the 10 weight classes, the Beavers have seeded wrestlers in seven. OSU is led by No. 1 Colby Covington at 174 pounds and he will open against Cal Polyâ€™s Steven Vasquez. Covington is 1-0 this season against Vasquez, winning via major decision.
Jason Lara is seeded third at 125 pounds and received a first-round bye. He will face the winner of Cal State Fullertonâ€™s Andre Gonzalez and Stanfordâ€™s Ryan Mango. Lara is 1-0 against Gonzalez this season and has not faced Mango.
Brackets: Pac-10 Brackets
Garrett Drucker picked up the No. 3 seed at 133 pounds and will square off against Arizona Stateâ€™s Kalin Goodsite in the opening round. Drucker was an 11-7 winner in the only bout between the two on Feb. 11 at Gill Coliseum.
Mike Mangrum is the Pac-10â€™s No. 2 seed at 141 pounds and he will open with unseeded Jordan Gray of Stanford. Mangrum produced a pin in the only matchup between the two.
Scott Sakaguchi is also one of seven Beavers seeded as he checks in at No. 2 at 149 pounds. The OSU redshirt freshman picked up a bye in the first round and will square off with the winner of Cal Polyâ€™s Filip Novachkov and Arizona Stateâ€™s Carlos Castro. Sakaguchi went 1-0 against Castro, taking a pin.
Alex Elder did not pick up a seed at 157 and will take on Arizona Stateâ€™s Bubba Jenkins, who is the No. 2 seed. Elder went 0-1 against Jenkins this season.
Jon Brascetta is the No. 3 seed at 165 pounds and faces off against Arizona Stateâ€™s Kyle Deberry in the first round. The two did not meet this season.
Brice Arand will represent OSU at 184 pounds and takes on No. 4 Dan Scherer as an unseeded wrestler. The two will be meeting for the first time this season.
Chad Hanke checks in at 197 pounds for OSU and is unseeded. He will open against Stanfordâ€™s Zack Giesen, who is seeded No. 2. Hanke is 1-0 against Giesen this season, winning by decision, 3-2, on Jan. 23.
The final bracket of the afternoon is the heavyweight class which finds OSUâ€™s Clayton Jack at No. 2. He will square off in the first round against Cal Polyâ€™s Atticus Disney. The two split their season-series; Jack won 4-1 in Las Vegas and Disney won 12-6 at Gill Coliseum.
The Pac-10 will receive the following allocations: 125-4, 133-3, 141-2, 157-3, 165-1, 174-3, 184-1, 197-4 and HWT-3, which gives the league 26 total.
The Pac-10 Championships are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Sunday at Gill Coliseum. Session I runs from 11 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. while Session II is expected to go from 6-9 p.m.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the ticket off at Gill Coliseum. All-day tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for children. Single-session tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children.
