Beav’s Pick Up N.D. Stud, Reis

Willie Saylor, Editor

Oregon State picked up their fourth signee for the 2012 Class on Thursday.

From Napolean, ND, Jared Reis gave his pledge to wrestle for the Jim Zalesky-led Beavers.

Reis placed at the state tournament six times, including winning the state title in each of the last three years. As both a Soph. and Jr., Reis reached the finals of NHSCA Nationals in VA Beach, and took 4th place honors as a Sr. at 145lbs.

He won two Rumble on the Red titles and went a perfect 16-0 in the past two years in Freestyle at National Duals.
Reis joins Jack Hathaway (125/133, IA), Joey Palmer (133, WA), and Joey Delgado (141, OR) as future Beavers in this class.

We had the opportunity to ask Jared about his decision. Here he is in his own words:

WS: Why did you ultimately choose Oregon St.?
JR: You couldn’t ask for a better coaching staff than Oregon State. Coach Zalesky, Coach Steiner, and Coach Roberts are all great guys. They know their stuff. I really enjoyed the wrestling team as well. They have great facilities and a great campus. I was able to watch one of their club practices and they worked real hard. You could definitely tell that Oregon State is headed in the right direction.

WS: What is your relationship with the coaches and wrestlers at OSU like?
JR: On my recruiting trip I felt like I really belonged with those guys. There are a couple of guys I know real well on the team and I know they are great people. They have nothing but great things to say about the program.

WS: What weight will you be, you think?
JR: I will be at 41 or 49.

WS: What other schools were you considering?
JR: I had it narrowed down to the University of Oklahoma and Oregon State. Both great programs and great guys, I just felt like I belonged in Oregon.

WS: What might you major in?
JR: I’m thinking I’m going to major in Business Management.

WS: What are your plans for the summer?
JR: I plan to stay in North Dakota and train with Ryan Blees, Coach Jeff Schumacher, and Coach Chas Renner. I will be going to Junior Duals and Fargo.

WS: Anything else you might wish to say.
JR: Go Beavs and HO BUTCH!
