Getting to Know: John Vaughn, Cleveland State

John Vaughn, Cleveland State

Throughout the off-season, we’re going to be getting to know returning NCAA Division I wrestlers from around the country.  We sent questionnaires to every program in the country and will be sharing the results throughout the long trek to next fall.  You can find them all whenever you like under the Getting to Know tag.

Name: John Vaughn
School: Cleveland State
Class (for 2017-18): Junior
Weight: 165

A Pennsylvania native, Vaughn helped Boiling Springs to a 2015 state title, their first in school history, as he finished second.  He earned a spot in the lineup right away as a true freshman, holding down 157, but didn’t get a chance at the post season until last year after moving up to 165.  Vaughn was 2-2 at the EWL Championships, finishing fourth while avenging an earlier loss to Jared Siegrist (Lock Haven) in the consolation semifinals.  Now returning for his Junior campaign, Vaughn will be looking to make his first trip to the NCAA tournament as it comes to Cleveland this March.
