TOM has learned that two-time All-American Joe Smith will begin the year in redshirt at Oklahoma State. After finishing seventh and fourth at 157 pounds in his first two years in Stillwater, with the seventh-place finish after Joe was pulled out of redshirt in January of his true freshman season, Smith will return as a junior in 2018-19 if all goes according to plan. While John Smith’s son sits, the starting job at 157 for the Cowboys will fall to either Jonce Blaylock or Wyatt Sheets. Another interesting note on the lineup passed to us by Oklahoma State is that it features no Preston Weigel. We can not confirm at this time the reason for Weigel’s absence, but the 2017 All-American has already used a redshirt year. Andrew Marsden is the only 197 listed with Derek White moving up to 285.
