TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week, Robert Howard of Bergen Catholic, New Jersey earned the honor on the strength of his undefeated day at the Who’s Number One duals. In the final match of the event, Howard knocked off the top-ranked 120 lber in the nation, Blair Academy’s Michael Colaiocco, 4-3. Howard’s early first period takedown and subsequent riding proved to be the difference in the bout. Robert’s win put the finishing touches on Bergen Catholic’s upset of the number one ranked team Blair Academy. The Crusaders took a 33-19 decision in their home gymnasium. Prior to the dual, Howard registered bonus point victories in each of his previous two matches on the day, a 21-3 tech fall over Buchanan CA’s Logan Gioffre and a 10-2 major decision of Florida state champ Ryan Chauvin of Lake Highland Prep. Last week Howard, a New Jersey state runner-up, earned a championship at the Doc Buchanan Invitational defeating another top 10 opponent, Gilroy, California’s Nic Aguilar.
Congratulations to Robert Howard TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week!
