NCAA DI Individual College Wrestling Rankings February 14, 2017

TheOpenMat.com has released its February 14, 2017, NCAA Division I Individual College Wrestling Rankings. Athletes who are known to be redshirting, injured for a prolonged amount of time or are known to be coming back the second semester are not ranked. During the season, wrestlers who miss two weeks of scheduled competition (excluding opens), will be removed from the rankings (with some exceptions based on available information). They will be returned to the rankings when they compete. Ineligible student-athletes are not ranked, even if they are competing in open tournaments and plan to return to the lineup in the second semester. When they return eligible, they will be ranked. *note these are not official records and include all wins and losses except the All-Star Classic.

If information regarding year, record or win streak needs to be updated, contact rankings@theopenmat.com.

125 – Ethan Lizak (Minnesota) suffered his worst loss of the season, falling to Jose Rodriguez (Ohio State). Lizak had control of the match until running out of gas late. There are rumors that he was sick which could explain the result, but for rankings purposes, a loss is a loss. He still has a better overall resume than anyone outside the top-six so he only falls that far. Rodriguez looked better than he had in a while, even before Lizak started to struggle. He moves up to #14 and could really help the Buckeyes if he regains the form he flashed at times early in the season.

Nathan Kraisser (Campbell) and Johnny Jimenez (Wisconsin) both took upset losses to wrestlers who are just outside the top-20. While that isn't a terrible thing, it was Kraisser's second such loss in recent weeks and he only has one win against the current top-20. That means he drops to #16. Jimenez has better wins than Kraisser, but more losses including one head-scratcher. He falls to #17.
