Throughout the off-season, we’re going to be getting to know returning NCAA Division I wrestlers from around the country. We sent questionnaires to every program in the country and will be sharing the results throughout the long trek to next fall. You can find them all whenever you like under the Getting to Know tag.
Name: Tejon Anthony
School: George Mason University
Class (for 2017-18): Junior
Through two seasons as the George Mason starter at 141 pounds, Anthony has won more than he has lost. However, it may have been a pair of losses that spoke to his improvement the most last season. In the first semester, two strong rivals put up bonus points against the Western Tech High School grad. First, Navy’s Jared Prince pinned him in the Navy Classic, then Ronnie Perry (Lock Haven) rolled over him, 13-1 in an early December dual. When February rolled around, however, Anthony nearly avenged both losses, falling 4-3 to Prince in a dual and coming up short in a 4-2 upset bid against Perry in the EWL Championships. Moral victories only go so far, but as Tejon returns for his junior campaign, he isn’t far from being an NCAA qualifier and pushing into the top 20.
