Circle Pines, Minn – The Open Mat (TOM) and the Wrestlers in Business Network (WIBN) share a common goal: help improve the sport of wrestling.
TOM does this through its strong commitment to coverage and promotion of the sport via its digital offerings. WIBN brings people with wrestling connections together and back into the wrestling world. As part of this relationship, TOM will feature a profile of a WIBN member monthly in TOM: The Magazine.
The feature won’t primarily be about wrestling, but a look into what and where wrestling has taken people and how the life skills in wrestling have helped people become successful in business.
Another initiative that will generate out of this partnership is that the two organizations will work to establish a scholarship fund to be given to a high school senior who is going on to college to wrestle and study business. This scholarship will be funded by TOM, donating a portion of proceeds collected from WIBN members who become TOM subscribers.
“The WIBN is a unique group of professionals with ties to wrestling that engages each other for the purposes of supporting ones career path with the clear understanding that as they benefit from the network they will give back to their wrestling community. We believe that the future of wrestling has ties to each programs connection to the local business community,” said John Licata, Executive Director of the Wrestlers in Business Network.
“We are very excited about this strategic relationship,” said Eric Bettermann, the CEO of TheOpenMat. “Our goal has always been to not only do what we can to improve the sport, but to also promote it in new and creative ways.”
