Drexel recruit Austin DeSanto of Exeter did the unthinkable this past weekend by pulling the biggest upset in PIAA state history, defeating undefeated three-time state champion, not to mention three-time world champion, Spencer Lee of Franklin Regional, 6-5 to win the PIAA Class 3A 126-pound championship. DeSanto got the winning takedown on Lee with almost no time remaining on the clock to become Exeter’s first ever individual state champion and finish the season with a 53-0 record. Because of his accomplishment this past weekend, he was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament in Class AAA. DeSanto finished his scholastic career as a four-time section champion, three-time region champion, three-time state medalist and, of course, a state champion. Congratulations to Austin DeSanto, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week!
