With the US Open for men's freestyle, women's freestyle's World Team Trials, and Greco's World Team Trials, not to mention all the age group tournaments, Las Vegas was once again the center of the American wrestling world last week. We saw what the rule adjustments looked like in elite competition, veterans defending their thrones, and emerging wrestlers claiming their first Senior world team slots. There were stories everywhere you looked and, in the case of men's freestyle, in particular, there is more to be written.
The rule adjustments are a problem
We didn't like the move to a two-point correct throw, especially in freestyle, when it was proposed and seeing it in action did nothing to lessen our concerns.
