The Trapper Open will be hosted by Northwest College and UVU is expected to compete against grapplers from the University of Wyoming and a number of other NAIA and Junior College programs around the region.
A year ago at the same tournament the Wolverines had 12 wrestlers place at the open, which included two of them winning their respective weight brackets. This year UVU head coach Greg Williams is hoping for more of the same.
“I’m excited and I feel like we will have a very good chance to have multiple guys still be wrestling at the end of the day. I can’t wait to get up there and see the guys compete. I’m anxious for the season to begin.”

Following the Trapper Open UVU will head to Harrisburg, Pa., for its first dual competition of the year when it takes part at the Wrestle for a Cure Duals on Nov. 12. There the Wolverines will take on Illinois, Ohio State, Buffalo and Shippensburg.
