TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week Noah Surtin (Edwardsville, IL) won the highest profile match at one of the weekend’s biggest tournaments, the Dvorak Invitational. Noah, a junior at Edwardsville High School, took home a title with relative ease while competing at the 113 lb weight class. Currently, the third-ranked wrestler in the nation, Surtin’s finals matchup with eighth-ranked Lucas Byrd was the marquee match of the night. Early in the third period of a 3-3 match, Surtin used a cradle to get five points and blow the match open. The bout ended as a 12-4 major decision in Surtin’s favor. Prior to the finals, Noah registered a fall in the round of 16 and earned technical falls of 16-0 and 15-0 in the quarters and semis, respectively. Following the Dvorak, Surtin, a Missouri commit, now has a 23-0 record for the season and earned his 100th career victory en route to his Dvorak trophy. In between his sophomore and junior seasons, Noah won a Junior freestyle national championship in Fargo and placed third at the Super 32.
Congratulations to Noah Surtin, TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week.
