For 1053 matches, the 51st annual Powerade Wrestling Tournament stuck to the script and was basically business as usual. As the tournament progressed, there were a couple of upsets scattered amongst the seeded wrestlers advancing, but nothing out of the ordinary. All 14 top seeds were able to make the championship finals. All 14 two seeds advanced to the semifinals with 10 of them moving along to the finals. In fact, there were just two unseeded finalists, but those particular wrestlers were only unseeded because of the Powerade’s seeding procedures which does not recognize freshman (or eighth graders).
