TOM’s College Wrestler of the Week – Jan. 1st, 2018

Jaydin Eierman, Missouri

If there is one word that best describes TOM’s College Wrestler of the Week, it is dangerous. Jaydin Eierman (Missouri) punished a solid group of wrestlers in his first three matches at the South Beach Duals, putting up bonus points against Tim Rooney (Kent State), AC Headlee (North Carolina), and Tyson Dippery (Rider). As impressive as that was, the 2017 All-American’s best was yet to come. Missouri’s final dual in Florida was against Cornell which meant top-ranked true freshman Yianni Diakomihalis who was undefeated on the season coming in. Late in the match, it looked like Diakomnihalis might stay unbeaten as he led 5-3 with riding time locked up, effectively putting Eierman in a three-point hole as the clock ticked down. However, the dangerous one showed why he should never be counted out of a match, locking up a cradle and taking the Big Red 141 to his back for six late points and a 9-6 victory. The Tiger sophomore extended his record to 18-1 and cemented himself as a national title contender. Missouri went 4-0, beating Cornell 27-11. Congratulations!
