As video review becomes ubiquitous in sports, there is a growing group of fans that rail against it. In college wrestling, where we punish those forced to take injury time to keep that option from being abused, the long delays as officials go to the monitor certainly have an impact on matches beyond whether a contested call is overturned. Still, there is a great deal of value in getting a potentially match-deciding call correct. However, with video review not available in every match, disallowed for unattached wrestlers, limited camera angles, and nearly constant controversy over decisions made even after looking at the replay, the question must be asked, is video review worth the problems it presents?
