TOMs High School Wrestler of the Week is Cohlton Schultz of Ponderosa, Colorado! He earned this honor by defeating another recent recipient Clovis HS’s Seth Nevills in the finals of the Doc Buchanan Invitational. It was expected that the pair would face off at the Walsh Jesuit Ironman, but Nevills was not allowed to wrestle due to a concern over his skin check. The long-awaited match pitted the second-ranked 285 lber Schultz, against third-ranked Nevills, in Nevills’ home gym. A takedown late in the opening period proved to be the difference for Schultz in his 3-2 victory. The loss was the first defeat in the high school career of Nevills. Prior to the finals of the Doc Buchanan, Cohlton pinned all four of his opponents in a combined 3:26. He now has won the event three times in as many tries. Within the last month, Schultz has also won titles at the Ironman and the Reno Tournament of Champions. In September, Schultz became the first American wrestler to win a Cadet Greco-Roman world championship since 1997.  Congratulations to Cohlton Schultz TOM’s High School Wrestler of the Week!
