While the National Duals takes a year off at the Division I level, the event that spawned that competition rolls on with the 38th edition of the Virginia Duals set to take place this Friday and Saturday, January 12th-13th, 2018. With multiple high school and college divisions competing across the floor of the Hampton Coliseum, it is sure to be a weekend filled with exciting wrestling. 13 Division I teams will compete for the title in the National College division which is divided up into four pools. The winners of those pools, which will be wrestled at 9 am, 11 am, and 1 pm eastern on Friday, will square off in the gold bracket on Saturday with a chance to take home top honors. The other teams will square off in the silver and bronze brackets with plenty of good matches to be found.
Seventh-ranked Virginia Tech is the defending team champion with 11th ranked Arizona State, 14th ranked Northern Iowa, 22nd ranked Virginia, Lock Haven, and Oklahoma among those looking to dethrone the champs. The semi-finals in the gold bracket will take place at 2 pm on Saturday with the championship and third-place duals scheduled for 8:30. Before all the action kicks off, we'll take you through each pool, what to watch for, make our predictions and then break down the expected semi-final and final matches.
