Five Unranked Wrestlers Who Shined at the Junior Duals – Freestyle

This weekend one of the marquee events at the high school level took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Junior Duals. Team Ohio came away with their second freestyle title in three years in a thrilling match with Team Minnesota. As usually is the case at these large events, a few unranked wrestlers emerged and shined. Here are five of the unranked standouts from the freestyle event.

Note: Tomorrow 6/27 the high school rankings will be updated. It would be safe to say that all five of these wrestlers will be among the top 20 of their respective weight classes.

Kyle Burwick - North Dakota

Kyle was the first wrestler that came to mind for me after digging through all of the results. Overall, in freestyle, he was a perfect 7-0 on the weekend. In his first day of competition, Burwick racked up a 7-5 over California and Fargo Cadet Freestyle runner-up Ryan Franco and an 8-3 victory over two-time National Prep champion Chris Cannon of Blair Aca...
