2017-18 Southern Conference (SoCon) Wrestling Preview

The Southern Conference (SoCon) continues to draw attention at the national level and it should be.  The hiring of Cary Kolat at Campbell showed that there were programs in the SoCon willing to invest in wrestling.  The emergence of teams like Appalachian State and the University of Tennessee Chattanooga over the last five years has shown that the smaller conferences can still produce All-Americans.  This year may be a dogfight at the top with Appalachian State, UTC, and Campbell all duking it out for the title.

At this time last year, I did not have Campbell winning the conference, but oh how things change over the course of the season.  Right now they are the returning champions with the others ready to dethrone them.  It should be a very entertaining season in the SoCon with some great wrestling to follow.

Join us now as we break down each team’s projected lineup, top returners, impact wrestlers, and what we see for them in the coming year.
