2018 EWL Wrestling Championships Weight-By-Weight Preview

EWL

Traditional conference power Edinboro plays host to the 2018 Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Championships, Saturday, March 3rd. 18 automatic NCAA qualifying spots will be on the line in addition to what is shaping up to be an outstanding team race. The Fighting Scots won their third EWL tournament title in four years last season, wrestling the crown back from Rider who had stolen it in 2016. Before that win by the Broncs, you had to go back to 1997, when Lock Haven stood atop the field, to find a win by a current conference member other than Edinboro. The Bald Eagles will be looking to repeat that performance and the projected scores look tight between all three of those teams. That shouldn't be a surprise after a regular season that saw every EWL program take at least one conference loss. Rider and Edinboro both ended up 5-1 with Rider owning the head-to-head.

This tournament features a potential top-10 clash at 165, an undefeated wrestler at 141, and what should be some wild battles for automatic bids at several weight classes. FloWrestling will have the live stream with action set to begin at 10:00 am. Placement matches are scheduled for 6:00 PM, both times eastern.

As we go weight-by-weight, we’ll break down the brackets, then make our predictions. The bolded wrestlers in each prediction section are those we expect to earn automatic bids to the NCAA tournament.
