2019-20 Early Lineup Look: Campbell

The theme this week for the “Early Lineup Look” feature are programs that are on the rise. Monday we talked about Lock Haven and today’s we’ll discuss a Campbell team that is coached by a Lock Haven alum, Cary Kolat. Heading into his sixth season at the helm as head coach of Campbell University, Kolat’s teams have seemed to make strides every year he has been in Buies Creek. In only his third season, the Camels had their first All-American in school history. That same year Campbell collected their first Southern Conference Championship. Fast forward to 2018-19 and Campbell won their second SoCon title and their first regular season conference championship. A program-high six wrestlers would qualify for the 2019 NCAA Championships in Pittsburgh. All six return in 2019-20, coupled with a transfer and two redshirts with NCAA experience, there will be nine NCAA qualifiers on the roster. Of course, there is not enough room for all nine at once in the lineup, but there are redshirt possibilities available. As you would expect with so many returning qualifiers, the Camels in 2019-20 will be very experienced. Kolat’s crew could field a lineup that includes six seniors against only one freshman. So here’s a look at the team that could take the mat for Campbell on November 9th in Pittsburgh during their first dual meet of the season.
