2019-20 Early Lineup Look: Missouri

Last season Missouri rewrote the record book with 180 points at the MAC Championships and saw nine of their ten starters advance to the NCAA Championships. They have now won eight consecutive MAC titles and have a strong shot at title number ten, even as the conference merges with the EWL to form a gigantic super-conference. In total, eight wrestlers that have qualified for nationals, at one time or another, are back in 2019-20. Head coach Brian Smith is starting his 22nd season in Columbia and has completely revamped the coaching staff from 2018-19. Smith had done an incredible job signing and retaining in-state talent, which has been evident in his team’s performance. Since 2016, out for the six NCAA All-Americans from the state of Missouri, five of them have come to Columbia to wrestle for Smith. The Tigers recruiting Class of 2018 has already proven to be fruitful with three true freshmen qualifying for the 2019 NCAA Tournament, a feat that no other school in the country can boast. More members of that recruiting class are expected to compete for spots in the Tigers lineup this year. This year’s team is attempting to finish in the top-six at the NCAA Championships for a sixth consecutive season, a span that includes a team trophy in 2015. Here’s what we can expect from Missouri in the 2019-20 season.
