The 2018-19 season was a big one for Greg Williams and the Utah Valley wrestling program. A team-record six wrestlers qualified for the NCAA Championships and two advanced to the NCAA Round of 12. With five of those six returning and another former Round of 12 finisher coming off a redshirt, there’s no reason to think that Utah Valley can’t be even better in 2019-20. The Wolverines started last year off hot finishing eighth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and downing Rutgers and Purdue in dual action before the new year. As the dual season progress injuries mounted up and pushed their record to a 10-14. In better condition for the postseason, UVU finished sixth in the conference and crowned their first Big 12 champion in school history. It can probably be said for most teams, but if they can avoid these nagging injuries in the upcoming season, Utah Valley will be a bad matchup for almost anyone on their schedule. With a conference full of young, emerging teams, Coach Williams’ squad is not one to overlook. Here’s what we can expect from Utah Valley in the 2019-20 season.
