BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University wrestler Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown) has been named both the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) and the co-PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) Wrestler of the Week for the period ending Feb. 16. He shares the PSAC honor with Ernest James of Edinboro.

Perry won both his matches at the NWCA National Duals over the weekend to extend his winning streak to 26 straight matches.

In the team’s match against Oklahoma Perry avenged his only loss of the year by beating fifth-ranked Travis Rutt by fall in 4:17. Perry was behind 2-1 after one period, but was able to turn on Rutt and get the victory by pin. Perry followed that up with win in his second match of the day beating Jeffrey Koepke of Illinois by decision, 8-4.

For the season Perry is 28-1 and improved to 105-28 for his career. He is ranked 14th all-time in school history in victories.

The Huskies, 8-8, will close out the regular season with a match at Binghamton on Saturday at 2 p.m.
