Bloomsburg’s Veltre, Perry named EWL Co-Wrestlers of the Week

BLOOMSBURG—Bloomsburg University wrestlers Josh Veltre (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) and Richard Perry (Meriden, CT/Middletown) have been named the co-Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Wrestlers of the Week for the period ending Nov. 24.

At the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia Veltre and Perry both won individual titles helping the Huskies to the team championship.

In winning the 165-pound title, Veltre won four matches and improved his record to 10-0 for the season. He beat nationally ranked Ramon Santiago, from Rider, in the championship finals by a score of 9-4. Perry, in grabbing the crown at 197 pounds, also racked up four wins on the day, winning by pin, tech fall and two decisions. He downed Danny Mitchell of American University in the finals by a 6-3 decision.

Bloomsburg will be back in action on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Madison Square Garden for the Grapple at the Garden taking on Illinois and Penn.
