COLUMBUS, Ohio – Johnni DiJulius, sophomore 133-pounder on the No. 7 Ohio State wrestling team, was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Winning the 133-pound title at the CKLV Invitational Dec. 6-7, DiJulius helped the Buckeyes rally from sixth place to a third-place finish with 119.5 points.
On the season, DiJulius is 14-1 overall, including a 4-0 mark in dual competition. For his career, DiJulius is 54-22.
DiJulius had one of the more impressive outings of the tournament, defeating the Nos. 5, 1 and 2 seeds en route to the title. After posting a 3-0 record on the first day of competition, DiJulius handed No. 1 seed Joe Colon of Northern Iowa a 6-2 loss before downing second-seed Cody Brewer of Oklahoma in 44 seconds.
The Buckeyes return to dual action Sunday when they travel to State College, Pa., to face No. 1 Penn State at noon live on BTN.
