A little more than a month after the elimination of the Old Dominion wrestling program, news of the school’s decision has traveled throughout the sporting world. Today, the podcast “Run Along”, hosted by former Swarthmore College soccer player Hannah Lichtenstein, featured a pair of Monarch wrestlers Dean and Luke Drugac. This show was the latest in a series of podcasts by Lichtenstein called “Retirement by Pandemic”. This mini-series focuses on athletes whose careers have come to an end due to the spread of COVID-19. The episode that features the Drugac twins is entitled “Cancelled Program Athlete”.

The Run Along show explores all aspects of the transition to life after being a competitive athlete and finding success in their next phase.

In 2019-20, as a redshirt junior, Luke Drugac went 16-15 with a 0-1 record in dual meets for the Monarchs. His career record was 46-46 and he was ODU’s entrant at the MAC Championships in 2019. Dean was 14-12 this year and 28-42 overall.
