Jason Ramstetter returned to his hometown of Alamosa, Colorado to take the reins of the Adams State wrestling program 19 seasons ago. The Grizzlies have sent 130 to the NCAA Division II National Championships in 28 years in DII, with 73 of those wrestlers earning All-American honors. Seven have earned National Championships for ASC, with all of those seven titles coming with Ramstetter at the head of the program.

“At Adams State we pride ourselves on using wrestling and academics to prepare our student-athletes for life,” Ramstetter said. “Our program is built around creating both successful wrestlers as well as successful lives. I am proud of the history we have both on the mat and off of it.”

The Grizzlies sent three to the 2020 NCAA Division II National Championships, in Isaiah De La Cerda (125), Jonathan Andreatta (133) and Noah Hermosillo (141). Ryan Rochford was a match away from a trip to the NCAA meet with a fourth place finish at 165. Both Andreatta and Hermosillo made it to Nationals for the second time in their careers, with both earning NWCA All-American honors this season, and will join De La Cerda in returning for Ramstetter in 2020-21. Another former All-American in Khalil Gipson, who finished 8th at 197 in 2019, will return to the Grizzly lineup after an injury sidelined him for 2019-20.

Joining the four returning National Qualifiers will be a handful of incoming recruits, and a transfer in De’Andre Williams from the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s University of the Fraser Valley. With these additions, the Adams State roster will look to reach around 32 for the 2020-21 season.
