The Emmanuel Lions are one of NCAA Division II’s youngest programs, only having been in existence since the 2015-16 season, with the Lions only competing in NCAA Division II since the 2018-19 season after starting as an NCWA program. Link Davis leads the program, and has since March of 2018 after making the move to the men’s team after starting the women’s wrestling program at Emmanuel.

“We are a young program with only being around five years, but our alumni have set a standard for our program’s foundation,” Davis said. “We look forward to building this program into something that they can be proud of.”

Kevin Almond, the lone All-American in Emmanuel history, returns for the Lions after taking eighth at 157 in 2018-19. He will be joined by eight others with starting experience for Davis, with six of those returners having placed at the NCAA Division II Super Region II tournament during their careers, but just outside of the top three placement required to make the trip to Nationals.

In addition to the nine returners for the 2020-21 season, Davis will also add a recruiting class of more than 10, with wrestlers coming to Emmanuel from Florida, Georgia and South Carolina this fall. In all, the Lions will look to number 35-40 for the coming season.
