Senior Harry Turner (Howell, N.J./Howell) of the Lock Haven University wrestling team has been named the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Athlete of the Week after leading the Bald Eagles to victory on Friday night.

Turner shares the weekly EWL honor with Edinboro’s Ernest James as the two were tabbed Co-EWL Wrestlers of the Week.

With Friday night’s match at Bucknell on the line, Turner provided the fireworks with a thrilling third-period pin that sealed The Haven victory.

Trailing in the third period, Turner scored a takedown and quickly pinned Joe Stolfi, with just over a minute left in the match (5:57) to seal the win for LHU.

LHU led 17-16 heading into the final bout of the night and Turner’s pin pushed Lock Haven to the 23-16 win.

The win snapped a three-match losing streak and marked the first win over Bucknell since 2008.

With the win, Turner improved to 21-10 on the season.
