Sam Stoll Update from Tom Brands

This afternoon the University of Iowa released the following statement from Tom Brands regarding the status of 285 lber Sam Stoll.
“Sam Stoll underwent successful surgery yesterday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and has since been released. He is doing well and that is great news. His health was our number one concern. We are still gathering information and once the police investigation is complete we will follow all University and Athletics Department code of conduct policies.”
According to multiple reports, Stoll was hospitalized early Tuesday morning after an accidental gunshot to the knee. An investigation led police to a residence where they found someone had discharged a firearm, accidentally striking Stoll in the knee.
During the 2017-18 season, Stoll earned All-American honors for the first time finishing fifth at the NCAA Championships.
