A second match has been confirmed for the 2018 NWCA All-Star Classic which will take place November 2nd in Denver, Colorado. This latest matchup takes place at 184 lbs between a pair of combatants that were freshman All-Americans during the 2017-18 season, Taylor Venz (Nebraska) and Max Dean (Cornell). These two met in the consolations at the NCAA Championships in a match that saw Venz win 11-6. The Cornhusker would go on to take fourth place, while Dean would drop to eighth.

Taylor will start the season ranked third in the country while Dean is ranked eighth. Though their only meeting of the season came at nationals, both wrestlers competed in the early season Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. At that event Venz would finish third, taking home the award for most falls in the least amount of time, while Dean went 2-2 and did not place. Both teams are slated to appear at the event again in 2018, so there may be a regular season tussle between these sophomores, as well. Since both of these contestants are sophomores, it is their first appearance at the Classic.

Below are the wrestlers that the NWCA has announced will be participating in the All-Star Classic. The men’s weights are listed first, and the women’s are below.
