With the premature, untimely end to the DI wrestling season, we’ve been left with a sour taste in our mouths. After the weekend, which was supposed to be the 2020 NCAA Championships has passed its time for us at TOM to move on and get to the typical features we would produce at the end of a wrestling season. One of those is the All-Freshman team. While we don’t know precisely how these first-year collegiates would have fared at nationals, this group had a handful of wrestlers that look poised for high finishes in Minneapolis. Six of the ten first-time members were seeded third at the NCAA Championships. Six wrestlers from the second team held top-ten seeds. With freshmen coming into college more ready than ever, there’s a good chance that that one (or more) of these athletes could have extended a six-year streak of at least one freshman national champion. While the first team is Big Ten-heavy (six of ten spots), there is a school with more than one member on the first team and it’s not from the B1G. So, without any more delay, here are the wrestlers who have made TOM’s All-Freshman team for the 2019-20 season, along with a second-team which have been listed, as well.
