This week’s college wrestler of the week Dom Demas earns the honor after he picked up a win over two-time All-American Kaid Brock in the Sooners Bedlam Dual with in-state rival Oklahoma State. Demas’ victory was the lone bright spot for Oklahoma in the 41-2 handling by the Cowboys. Just a week ago, Dom went to the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and was the only placer for OU, when he took fourth at 141 lbs. The win over Brock now brings the freshman’s 2018-19 record to 15-3 overall. In the match itself, Demas jumped out to an early lead with a first period takedown, then led 5-2 after two periods, before fending off a late rally from Brock and hanging out to win 7-6. So far this season Demas has defeated six NCAA qualifiers a total of eight times. His win over Brock is his first over a returning All-American in his short Sooner career. Dom could have another shot at a past NCAA qualifier this weekend as Oklahoma is slated to meet Appalachian State on Sunday and they have 2018 SoCon Champion Irvin Enriquez at 141 lbs.
