This week’s College Wrestler of the Week, Nick Reenan of North Carolina State, earned the honors after a flawless 3-0 performance in the 184A bracket at the Journeyman Collegiate Classic. Nick earned bonus points in both of his pool wins, first a 11-3 major decision over Noah Stewart (Army West Point). Though Stewart is not currently ranked, he may find his way into the next batch of rankings based on his weekend. The second bout of the day for Reenan resulted in a fall in 1:08 against Kayne MacCallum (Oklahoma), a returning NCAA qualifier that had transferred from Eastern Michigan, after they dropped their program. In the championship round, Reenan claimed his title with a 4-1 victory over sixth-ranked Ryan Preisch (Lehigh). That will undoubtedly catapult Nick up tomorrow’s rankings from his current eighth spot.

As a true freshman in 2016-17, Nick qualified for the NCAA Championships while wrestling at 174 lbs for the Wolfpack. He took a redshirt last year and moved up to 184 lbs. Over the summer Reenan earned a spot in Final X State College, opposite the eventual world champion David Taylor, on the strength of his championship at the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament.
