This week is kind of the calm before the storm, dual meet-wise. Some of the top teams in the nation are in action, though they are not likely to be pushed. The biggest DI dual of the week comes to us from the Journeyman Duals in Albany, New York on Saturday, November 10th. Eighth-ranked Nebraska will take on an upstart young group from Virginia.
Head coach Mark Manning’s Cornhusker squad is a formidable one, featuring four returning All-American’s. A senior transfer Zeke Moisey has bolstered the beginning of their lineup. There are still some questions the exact lineup for Nebraska going forward. There are three weights where a clear-cut starter has not been established. Since this is their first dual meet, a win by any of the three could go a long way, as to solidifying a starting spot.
Virginia already has a Big Ten win under their belt in 2018-19, as the Cavaliers knocked off Indiana Saturday 25-12. With All-American Jack Mueller redshirting and focusing on next week’s U23 World Championships, UVA will send out a lineup that includes four freshmen. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing as all four of them were victorious in the dual meet against the Hoosiers. This dual will help us understand just how good this group of kids are for head coach Steve Garland.
Here’s a breakdown of the probable matchups and TOM’s predictions, along with projections from WrestleStat.
#8 Nebraska vs. NR Virginia
125: #6 Zeke Moisey (Nebraska) vs. #7 Louie Hayes (Virginia)
