Yesterday, TOM spoke with the head coach of the Missouri Tigers, Brian Smith. Coach Smith is very excited about the future as Mizzou signed the second-ranked recruiting Class of 2020 , which will join a team that features a pair of returning All-Americans in Brock Mauller and Grant Leeth. Speaking of those two, Coach Smith talks about what makes each of them unique and leaders for his team. As everyone knows, we’re in a unique time and Coach Smith talks about some of the different ways his team has grown during the pandemic. The squad has focused more on the mental side of the sport than in past years and has done more reading than in the past. An avid reader himself, Coach Smith has mowed through the books these past few months. Some of his favorites were on Patriots Super Bowl winning coach Bill Belicheck and president Harry Truman, a Missouri native. Having coached at a program that went from the basement of the Big 12 in the late 1990’s to #1 in the nation in 2007, along with a pair of the sport’s legends (Ben Askren and J’Den Cox), it may surprise you hearing Coach Smith’s favorite coaching achievement. Or knowing him and the TigerStyle environment he has created..it may not be a surprise.
