Yesterday TOM got a chance to speak with Tony Robie head coach of Virginia Tech. Robie reflects on the careers of two of his seniors from the 2019-20 season, David McFadden and Cody Hughes, and what both meant to the program. For the third time in four year, Robie and his staff have signed a recruiting class ranked in the top-ten nationally. He talks about this incoming group and why they may have a chip on their shoulder as they head to Blacksburg. We also chat about the 2011 NCAA Tournament in Philly which was not fondly remembered in Hokie circles, but may have ultimately benefited the program in the long run. Tony also revisits Devin Carter’s remarkable return from a gruesome hamstring injury that was said to end his 2014 season. Carter surprised the wrestling world and came back hobbled to make the NCAA finals. We wrap-up by talking about Robie’s whirlwind of a year as Binghamton’s head coach, spending time with his boys, and the Last Dance.
