This evening the top-ranked 132 lber in the nation, Beau Bartlett of Wyoming Seminary, announced that he will remain in Pennsylvania for college and attend Penn State. Bartlett, a junior, is currently ranked eighth overall in the Class of 2020. This high school season Beau captured his third National Prep title, along with fifth-place finishes at the Beast of the East and the Ironman. Prior to the season, he was a runner-up at the Super 32. Recently, Bartlett competed at the US Open in the Senior division and was able to crack the top eight. In doing so, he pinned two-time Penn State All-American Jordan Conaway and defeated Pittsburgh’s multiple-time NCAA qualifier, Shelton Mack. As a sophomore, Beau made national headlines after he handed former Nittany Lion Gavin Teasdale his first high school loss in the Powerade finals.
It appears that Cael Sanderson’s Penn State team could be on the verge of another huge recruiting class after going lighter on the Class of 2019. Bartlett joins number five overall Robert Howard (Bergen Catholic, NJ) who is also a junior that has verbaled to the Nittany Lions. At this point, they both appear to be 133 lbers, but there is still plenty of time for either to grow into 141.
