Senior breaks school dual wins record, leads Hokies to Virginia Duals title
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech 157-pound senior Jesse Dong has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler Of The Week after setting a school record for dual meet victories and leading the Hokies to their first-ever Virginia Duals championship.
Dong broke the school record and joined the 100-victory club with a pin of Binghamton’s Jack McKeever, a 3-0 win over Kent State’s T.J. Keklak, a 7-0 shutout of Michael DePalma of 16th-ranked Edinboro and a 9-5 decision over Blaise Butler of 19th-ranked Virginia.
The Westerville, Ohio, wrestler’s efforts helped the 10th-ranked and second-seeded Hokies post four dual victories in the tournament and become the first Virginia school in the 33-year history of the Virginia Duals to win the National College Division of the event.
